The Events Industry in the Age of Coronavirus

Every day our Logistics Supervisor sends a daily ‘run of show’ to the company so we all know what’s on deck for the next day. A month ago, our daily ‘run of show’ was e-mailed, as it always is, at 2 pm. As usual, it was full of events. Certainly, no one knew at the time that in just four weeks, our run of show would look completely different. Typically, the ‘run of shows’ is jam-packed with events — set-ups, breakdowns, and refreshes. The events range from in-store activations to large scale product launches. The ‘run of show’ designates which team members are on which set-ups and encompasses every single moving part of the next day. This past week, the ‘run of show’ has been sent out — completely bare. No set-ups, no breakdown, no refreshes.

The recent coronavirus, COVID-19 outbreak has disrupted the lives of millions. We are just a small part of those affected during this unprecedented time. The events industry is more or less, on pause. But we know we will come back from this. And it is the event inquiries coming in for the future that are giving us that hope.

Despite the worry and hardship, we have found so much support and love from our vendors, clients and the people in our community.

We’ve been inspired to continue our work during this time in any way we can. We have been working to organize our CRM, brainstorm design ideas, and create fresh content for our marketing our social platforms. When the clouds part, we will be ready to meet our clients with open arms. Together, we will get through this and together, we will build a brighter future.
